DESCRIPTION

Quintessence brings together the reds of padauk and dyed ash burr. Maple brightens the squares, while the Reliefs Edition board gives the set an architectural profile: successive mouldings, a flared base and raised lines. The figures stand out from this plinth as parts of a single composition.

Padauk and boxwood pieces retain the poised lines of the Staunton style. Quintessence finds its balance between the architecture of the Reliefs Edition base and the restrained carving of its figures.
