The pieces, striking in their presence, are finely carved from natural boxwood and ebonised boxwood. Their décor is adorned with delicate floral engravings, and the high-gloss lacquer intensifies the contrast between black and beige. The silhouette of each figure, from pawn to king 3.9 inches (99 mm), impresses with its nobility, while the polishing and precise balance give a luxurious feel in the hand.

The 19.7 inches (50 cm) board, crafted in Europe, is a masterpiece in its own right. Made from mahogany and maple, it combines the strength of orange-toned wood with the radiance of beige in a spectacular chequered pattern.
